Registration begins

Published in Long Beach City College's Viking newspaper in 2005.

The new Spring schedule arrived and was neatly stacked in the LAC Bookstore in time for opening, then disappeared by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 after students rushed in and feverishly purchased all of them.
Associated Student Body Enterprises Director Martha Wayland said Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. that a new shipment would arrive soon. Indeed, the shelves were full of schedules at the PCC and the LAC at about 4 p.m.
Schedules may be found in bookstores on both campuses and at local 7-11 stores for $1.
According to the schedule, the health fee for Spring 2006 has been raised from $13 to $14. The fee must be paid when registering for classes unless students qualify for the Board of Governors fee waiver, certain financial aid exemption or attending an approved apprenticeship-training program.
The optional $20 ASB card will allow students to check out items from the Library, use computer labs, apply for scholarships and grant students a 5 percent discount at the bookstores and be eligible for numerous activities.
To register, students are urged to meet with a counselor, then select classes, take assessment tests if necessary and check for pre-requisites.
"Pre-requisites are enforced and cannot be waived or ignored," Miyashiro said.
New students must apply by completing an application either on-line or on paper. An identification number and password will be given out allowing the student to register on-line and by phone.
Students may visit www.lbcc.edu or call 938-4700.
